Why Did My Seasonal Surcharge Not Apply?

Available on Mobile/Desktop Browser or App? ✅ Yes, accessible on both mobile and web platforms.

If your seasonal surcharge didn’t apply to a booking, it may be due to the way surcharges are currently set up in the system. Mad Paws automatically applies surcharges only for nationally recognised public holidays across Australia. Here's what Pet Sitters need to know.

📝 Instructions

1. Seasonal Surcharges Apply to National Public Holidays Only Mad Paws applies seasonal surcharges automatically on Australia-wide public holidays such as:

  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day
  • Australia Day

If the holiday is state-specific (e.g. Melbourne Cup Day in VIC, Ekka Day in QLD), the system will not apply a surcharge automatically.

2. Why Didn’t My Surcharge Apply? If your booking falls on a state or regional holiday, the platform won’t recognise it as a surcharge date. This is expected behaviour based on current system settings.

3. How to Add a Surcharge Manually To charge extra on dates not covered by the automatic surcharge:

  • Go to your Calendar in your Sitter profile
  • Select the date(s)
  • Set a Custom Daily Rate

This lets you adjust pricing for local public holidays or peak periods.

4. Coming Soon: Support for State-Based Surcharges Our Product Team is working on improving this feature to include state-specific holiday surcharges. We’ll notify all sitters once it’s available.

Only **national holidays** currently trigger automatic surcharges. For state holidays, you’ll need to manually update your rate via your calendar.

Yes! Simply adjust your calendar with custom rates for those specific dates.
