Summary

To maintain safety and verify that all Pet Sitters reside in Australia, Mad Paws requires specific forms of identification. Sitters must provide valid government-issued ID that confirms both their identity and Australian residence.

Accepted Forms of ID

You must submit one of the following valid combinations during your sitter application:

✅ Australian Driver License ✅ Australian Proof of Age Card ✅ Australian Passport ✅ International Passport + Australian Photo ID (issued within the last 12 months) ✅ International Passport + Australian Police Check (issued within the last 12 months)

Note: All documents must be clear and legible, and if using a Police Check, it must be dated within the last 12 months.

Not Accepted as Primary ID

⛔ Student ID ⛔ International ID without supporting Australian documentation

Why These Requirements Exist

  • To verify your identity
  • To confirm you are legally residing in Australia
  • To ensure all Sitters are part of the local legal and support systems
  • To maintain trust and safety for Pet Owners

What to Do if You’re Submitting a Police Check

If you are using a Police Check as part of your verification:

  • It must be issued in Australia
  • It must be dated within the last 12 months
  • It must be submitted along with an International Passport if not using another form of Australian ID

FAQs

  • Can I use a student ID if it shows my full name and date of birth? No. Student IDs are not accepted, even if they show name and DOB.
  • Do I need to provide two forms of ID? Only if one of your documents is an international passport, in which case you must pair it with either an Australian Photo ID or Police Check (issued within the last 12 months).
  • What if my Police Check is older than 12 months? It will not be accepted. You must submit a current Police Check.
  • What happens to my photo ID after I submit it for verification? Your photo ID is securely used for verification. Once your application is approved, it is automatically removed from the system. If your application is incomplete and is still under review, it will be deleted after 60 days.
