Creating a Pet Sitter profile that stands out
Available on Mobile/Desktop Browser or App? ✅ Yes, accessible on both mobile and web platforms.
Pet parents are handing over someone they love, so your profile is your first chance to show you're a safe pair of hands. Think of it like a shopfront: they should see who you are, what you offer and why they can trust you in under a minute.
Follow these steps to create a profile thats engaging, informative, and visually appealing:
Step by step instructions:
1. Craft a compelling bio
Write a friendly and enthusiastic introduction to showcase your personality and background. In two or three sentences, say who you are, what pets you've lived with or cared for, and why you love sitting. Example: "I grew up with two rescue greyhounds and my daily routine includes a morning walk around the lake near my house".
- Say what makes you different. Answer something a pet parent will have natural concern for, such as “will my pet be left alone?” or “will you send me updates?”
- Back it up with specifics. Use real examples of any experience you’ve had with pets or what your normal routine looks like, instead of a general claim like '”I love dogs!”.
- Explain what to expect. How will you help their pet feel at home? It could be a secure backyard to play in, a safe space inside to sleep, daily beach walks or calm routines.
2. Detail your services
Be specific about what you offer (eg. one daily walk included with overnight bookings… or… here’s what a typical house visit includes: xyz). Mention skills like administering medication or experience handling anxious pets. Share relevant qualifications (if any) like pet first aid training, as well as a police check.
Tip: Be transparent about what your services do and don’t include. If you don't do something, say so. It only help build trust!
3. Set competitive rates
Research local rates for similar services to ensure your pricing is fair and attractive. Be sure to match your rate to what you offer - experience, qualifications, a fenced yard, medication skills or being home all day can justify a higher rate.
If you’re new to pet sitting and have no reviews, we suggest setting your prices slightly below the local average. This can help you land your first booking, and then you can alter them once you have some experience & reviews under your belt.
4. Add some high-quality photos
Pet parents want to picture their pet with you, so add a handful of clear photos to your gallery. Use a bright, smiling headshot, then photos of you with relaxed, happy animals within your gallery.
Tip: Avoid photos where you’re wearing sunglasses or anything that disguises your face.
5. Highlight your availability
Outline when you’re available, and mention any flexibility. For example: “Available most weekends and school holidays, and happy to take last-minute requests.” And, remember to update it when plans change. Block out holidays, work trips, family commitments and anything else as soon as you know about them.
Tip: Update your calendar regularly. To help keep your calendar up-to-date at all times, set-up a habit like a Sunday-night check. This helps to ensure your profile stays fresh & active, and to help pet parents match with someone who is genuinely available.
