# Help, There's An Emergency! (Lost Pet)

When a pet goes missing, quick action and clear communication are key to reuniting them with their owner. Follow these steps to maximise your chances of locating the pet quickly.

## **Instructions**


1. **Inform the Owner**
2. **Contact Authorities**
   * Reach out to local authorities and organisations, including:
     * Local pound
     * Veterinary clinics
     * Council rangers
     * RSPCA
3. **Search Nearby Areas**
4. **Notify Mad Paws within 48 hours from the time the incident occurred**
   * If the pet remains missing, email [trust@madpaws.com.au](mailto:service@madpaws.com.au) with “EMERGENCY” in the subject line.
   * Include detailed information about how the pet escaped.
5. **Key Information to Share**
   * **Existing Medical Conditions** : Any allergies or illnesses the pet may have.
   * **Past Serious Injuries** : Details of any serious injuries or traumas.
   * **Current Heat Status** : Note if the pet is in heat.
   * **Toilet Training Status** : Whether the pet is toilet trained.
   * **Behavioural Tendencies** : Habits like jumping fences, digging, or escaping.
