Does Mad Paws Report Sitter Income to the ATO?

If you earn income through Mad Paws, it’s important to understand how your payment information is reported to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and what this means for your tax obligations.

Yes. Mad Paws is required to report relevant sitter payment information to the ATO.

Mad Paws does not collect or report your personal Tax File Number (TFN) because sitters are independent contractors, not Mad Paws employees.

The ATO may receive information about payments processed through your Mad Paws account and may data-match this information against its records.

What Information Does Mad Paws Report to the ATO?

Mad Paws reports information required under applicable ATO reporting requirements, including information relating to payments processed through the platform.

This reporting is based on the information Mad Paws holds about your account and payments. Mad Paws does not collect your personal TFN for this purpose.

Your TFN is not required for Mad Paws to report relevant payment information to the ATO.

What Does This Mean for You?

As a Mad Paws sitter:

  1. You are not a Mad Paws employee
Sitters operate independently and are responsible for managing their own tax obligations.

  2. Mad Paws does not collect your TFN
Your personal TFN is not provided to Mad Paws as part of the sitter onboarding process.

  3. Your payment information may be reported to the ATO
Mad Paws may report relevant payment information as required under ATO reporting obligations.

  4. You are responsible for declaring your income
You are responsible for determining how your Mad Paws earnings should be treated and declared for tax purposes.

  5. Keep your own records
Keep records of your bookings, payments, expenses, and other relevant information to help meet your tax obligations.
